Re: Shelly 2.0!!
lol..ok so I got her to idle, now on to another problem (its one after the next and all I want to do it take it for a drive )...anyway.. the coolant would get really hot and almost start boiling but the temp gauge still reads between hot and cold, any ideas? thermostat perhaps?

Re: Shelly 2.0!!
New/proper functioning radiator?
I would check in the following order:
1) "Burp" the system. Just to be sure when I'm refilling the cooling system I:
a) Open up the bleeding points
b) Fill about half of what I expect to be needed for the entire system
c) Start the car with the a/c on and begin to fill till it's near the top
d) Turn off the car and let the coolant settle
e) Repeat c & d till the system can't take any more but do not stop topping up until you see that bleeding point start to flow a constant stream of coolant (i.e. not just bubbles).
f) Lock off the bleeding screw then top up the radiator.
g) Fill the overflow bottle to the recommended level.
h) Check the level to see if it has dropped after the car has cooled properly and top up the necessary amount.
2) Thermostat (good idea to replace this whenever a swap is done).
3) Water pump. Also good to replace this when you do the timing belt when you do a swap.
BTW, does the SR have an aluminum block? I would be sure to use an appropriate coolant.

Re: Shelly 2.0!!
I heard that you take out the thermostat. SOmetimes it sticks and that is what overheats an engine!

ALL SR'S ARE ALUMINUM BLOCK!
Check ur CTS. it may need replacing. it taking to long to trigger on the fans.(well that what happened in my case.the coolant was bubbling and what not cause the fans were taking to long to come on, if on at all sometimes!*

OK questions
1- where are the bleeding points? all I did was open the radiator cover and kept adding coolant until no more bubbles could be seen and it could not take anymore coolant, but the fans did not turn on as yet however I used the cts from the old motor which never had the cooling issue

Re: Shelly 2.0!!
what tells the fan when to turn on?.. the fans are not turning on when they are supposed to. I swapped the relay with the ac relay and the foglamp relay and still nothing however, if I connect the left and right contacts both fans turn on and spin until I break the connection whether or not the key is in..?? any ideas, I'm going to read the fsm tonight and see what I can figure out

Re: Shelly 2.0!!
^^^if u want to know if ur wiring is ok,connect the wiring jus how u had it before u bridged the pins. unplug the CTS and the fan should come on.that is how u will know if the wiring is ok.
that is the wiring part, now if that is ok,swap out the CTS for another and see if it comes on when it should. if not the last thing to check is the signal from the ECU to the fan relay.(easy way to do this is try another ECU!)
if none of the above works(which i'm sure one would) hook the fans up direct. jus be prepared to change them in a shorter time than if they were coming on at intervals.
(last but not least...........GIVE ME THE DAMN CAR! )
tell me how it goes....

oh sry i didn't ans. ur question.
the CTS sends a signal to the ECU and then the ECU to the fan relay! spin fan ,spin!

no scene bro,i'm always willing to lend a helping hand no matter what little it may be. i know how frustrating it does be sometimes when u trying to trouble shoot something and it just not working out.
my bro is an auto electrician so i learn alot from him.he is the one who does all the electricals in my ride.he also wired my sr.when people come trying to sort out problems i help trouble shoot as well.people will tell u all sorts of things, some even wrong just not to see u help urself.i learn the hard way in my project and even still learning hard, but is no scene at the end of the day i'll get through....
my final part of my project is to turbo my n/a and it don't matter what advice i get good or bad i'll apply it accordingly!
good to hear i was of assistance. always glad to help.
any time u around my parts ur always welcome to fall in by me.......
